Rambaldi is making a list and checking it twice... [19 Apr 2005|08:48pm]

If you have any suggestions, requests, or comments, this is the entry for them. Here is a list of the songs we've posted thus far:

Rambaldi wants to eat your brains! [28 Mar 2005|04:02pm]

Song: The Flame

Artist: Dover

File info: 2:21, 192kbps

CD: The Flame

Observations: All observations are untranslated from our team in Spain. All I can read is something about a cat. Perhaps Rambaldi was terribly allergic to cats? Perhaps everyone will die from violent allergic reactions to cats, and the planet will be taken over by Maine Coons?

Rambaldi brakes for penguins [26 Mar 2005|01:52pm]

Song: With Arms Outstretched

Artist: Rilo Kiley

File info: 3:42, 128kbps

CD: The Execution of All Things

Observations: This song may be a key to finding the location of The Promised Land, a utopia-like place which Rambaldi had set aside for himself and his followers. Does it still exist? We are still trying to find it.

Rambaldi always recycles (except on Thursdays) [24 Mar 2005|04:37pm]

Song: Day By Day

Artist: Serafin

File info: 3:05, 192kbps

CD: No Push Collide

Observations: Don't always dismiss what occurs in your dreams, they can tell you things you never would have realized.

For more info on the band, go here.

All Prophetic Documents should still be up, so get them while you can! <3

Rambaldi Does Dallas [22 Mar 2005|04:53pm]

Song: Italian Radio

Artist: Blue October

File info: 3:49, 128kbps

CD: unavailable

Observations: The lyrics of this song hint toward Rambaldi's stay in Italy, where for a brief time he stood-in as a replacement ocarina player for the then-popular travelling music group "Il Dio Orina Sul Povero" (which translates roughly to "God Pees On The Poor").

And as a Special Tuesday Bonus (which just means I *really* love this band, and want to offer two different types of their songs):

Song: Come In Closer

Artist: Blue October

File info: 5:25, 160 kbps

CD: History For Sale

Observations: This song is about the Second Coming of Rambaldi's cousin, Truly. Can he be trusted? With lyrics like these, we just can't tell.

For more info on the band, go here.

Rambaldi And The Curse Of Data Corruption [20 Mar 2005|03:54pm]

Thanks to a kind downloader it has come to my attention that one of the songs from my last post was messed up - corrupted data, oh no! I think Rambaldi was pissed that I was posting a song unrelated to him, he can be *so* cranky. Anyway, the zip is fixed, and you can download (or re-download) the fixed file here.

Rambaldi Hates Sunday Drivers [20 Mar 2005|01:03pm]

Song: Deserts on Fire edit: I accidentally downloaded Deserts on Fire and not "That Crown Don't Make You A Prince" as it originally stated. Oops.

Artist: Murder By Death

File info: 3:11, 192 kbps (zipped)

CD: Who Will Survive, and What Will be Left of Them?

Observations: The lyrics of this song are part of Rambaldi's prediction of a fight against some unknown Evil Force. Since it hasn't occurred yet, we can't tell you much else. Currently the Rambaldi experts are trying to find out when this will take place. One colleague suspects it has to do with zombies, but we think he's just been watching too much Shaun of the Dead.

Murder By Death fluidly orchestrates a sonic boom that is part horror movie climax, part western barroom brawl and a gloss of wintry distortion. For more info on the band, go here.

And as a Special Sunday Bonus:

Song: Closer (Super Mario Bros. mix)

Artist: Nine Inch Nails

File info: 6:02, 128 kbps (zipped)

CD: None.

Observations: This actually has nothing to do with Rambaldi.

For more info on the band, go here. Although, if you've never heard of NIN, um... where have you been?

Rambaldi Talks To An Arabic Man [18 Mar 2005|03:53pm]

Song: Heavy Lifting

Artist: Ambulance Ltd.

File info: 3:56, 128 kbps (zipped)

CD: Ambulance LTD [EP]

Observations: A song about true love, fate, and loneliness. According to our studies Rambaldi died a lonely man without a spouse or living heir, and we believe this song tells something of his personal life. What relevance, then, does this song have to others? Why did he choose to add these lyrics to his manuscript? Perhaps it tells of a person in the future. Or perhaps it warns about living a life of loneliness. That you can't wait for fate, for other people, to relieve your burdens. Overall, this song is still a mystery.

This New York-based quartet makes swoony, atmospheric, layered rock that's primarily interested in guitar-based interplay and subtle dynamics. Their pleasant tunes have supple melodies, a solid Velvets-derived groove, and pretty yet weathered vocals that occasionally sound like Sam Prekop from The Sea and Cake. They have too much cojones, not to mention vaguely bluesy chops, to be considered third-generation "shoegazers." Ambulance Ltd. do what any decent indie-rock band does on their first album (see Stereolab, Built to Spill, Luna): they play around with their influences, mixing, matching, and seeing what sounds best. This album is like watching a bunch of kids going crazy trying on fancy clothes at the department store, as they gleefully mix and match the Lilys, the Kinks, Versus, the Stones, and Apples in Stereo. This is not meant as disparagement; there's a real joy in watching a band come into its own. It's a safe bet Ambulance Ltd. will already be there by the time you read this. --Mike McGonigal

Prophetic Document 1 and Prophetic Document 2 are still up for grabs!

Rambaldi Won't Eat KFC [16 Mar 2005|04:31pm]

Song: "Crazy In Love" (Beyonce cover)

Artist: Snow Patrol

File info: 4:13; 160kbps (zipped)

CD: Unavailable on CD / BBC Session

Observations: This song was one of Rambaldi's first lyrical predictions. You may have assumed, while listening to the original, that the lyric "it's your girl, B" meant Beyonce, but Melissa and I beg to differ. We believe he is referring to the young Ms. Bristow, and the coincidence of Beyonce preforming this song is not a coincidence at all. Whom, though, is the person in the next line "it's your boy young", and what effect will he have on the future? It is "history in the makin'", as the lyrics state.

We also believe the line "my texture is the best fur, I'm chinchilla" *means something*. What part in all this does the elusive chinchilla play, O Rambaldi?

While the Beyonce version of Crazy In Love is actually pretty good (though so catchy you tend to get tired of it after several listens) Prophet Melissa and I prefer this cover. Snow Patrol is a Brit-band with 3 cds to date, each full of compelling, guitar-driven songs. For more info on the band, click here to go to their official site.
